By the end of the class I will finish reading “Amigo Brothers” and complete a written summary of the story using the Somebody Wanted But So Then strategy. Summary Strategy Who is the story about? (Protagonist) Somebody What did they want? What were they hoping to accomplish? Wanted But What was the conflict with the antagonist? So What did they do to solve the conflict? Then How did he/she get what they wanted?
Marta was a student who had the best grades in the school. Somebody She wanted the scholarship jacket because she earned it and her sister won the jacket in the past. Wanted But The principal and school board changed the rules and they were going to make her pay $15 for the jacket. So, Marta asked her Grandfather for the money and he said no because it wouldn’t be a scholarship jacket if she had to pay for it. So Then Finally, Marta told the principal she wouldn’t pay for the jacket and he made an exception and gave her the jacket without paying for it.

Does the second sentence say that the character(s) wants to win the boxing tournament? • Example: Antonio wanted to become the representative for the Golden Gloves boxing championship. • 3. Does the third sentence say that the best friends have to fight each other? • Example: Antonio had to fight his best friend, Felix, to determine who would get to go to the tournament.
