  3. Introduction • English has become one of the most important international languages • mandatory course • English courses in the university may not be sufficient for students • extra courses or activities are also important

  4. Introduction • learning English are not only in school • many different ways by themselves • English movies, songs, television and radio broadcasts • read English newspapers and magazines • go to cram school • various approaches • learning effect and learning satisfaction

  5. Introduction • analyze ways, method and time students should spend learning English for the best effects. • it is hoped that students can employ the most effective extra English activities to learn English well

(2002) • University students’ English abilities at National Taiwan University are worse than senior high school students. • GEPT of High-intermediate Levels that the senior high school students’ rates of passing through the tests are higher than university students’.
