SOPHOMORE • Not the New Kid anymore • Avoid the temptation to pick on new freshmen • Watch out!!! Just because you’re not new doesn’t mean that there aren’t THINGS out there you don’t know about!!!! • Standardized Testing • End of Course Tests • PLAN • PSAT (doesn’t count till 11th) • ACT/SAT • First time eligible for National Honor Society • Scholarship, Leadership, Service, Character • Determines whether you graduate with honors(Being on Advanced does not mean that you graduate w/honors

Make sure you have PRE-REQUISITES You will be taking End of Course Tests and PLAN which will help you prepare for ACT and career exploration.

JUNIOR YEAR!!! • Begin your college/post-secondary search • More focused career goal • www.careercrusing.com • Most definitely begin standardized testing (ACT) • PSAT counts as NMSQT • Take any required electives not yet taken • Master any portion of AHSGE not yet passed!!!!!
Junior Year continues… • Get in more community service (Volunteer!!!!) • Prepare a resume to present to people you would like to write letters of recommendation • After school releases for summer begin contacting colleges you want to attend if they are competitive • Make sure your ACT scores are where they need to be. If not, explore some other study option to get those scores up! • USATEST PREP (See Mrs. Lynn) for ACT/SAT preparation or use other avenues to GET THAT SCORE UP!!!!
SENIOR YEAR!!!!! • Be sure you are a candidate for graduation!!! • Narrow your college/post-graduation plans • Be proactive about scholarships---they won’t come to you • Two (3) college visit days (4X if proper paper work is in!) • Wrapping up high school! ! ! ! !
CHECK YOUR CREDITS • Review your transcript • Mark out any failures then… • X-out all required courses you’ve earned • Register for required classes appropriate for your grade level. Grade level is determined by # of credits earned • 10th grade = 7 credits • 11th grade = 14 credits • 12th grade = 20 credits
