Staff Change in GCC • New GCC Director • Dr. Lawrence (Larry) Flynn as the new GCC Director • Thanks Fuzhong Weng for his support to the GCC functions over the past six years. • New GSICS Quarterly Editor • Dr. George Ohring as the GQ editor since Jan 2013
GEO-LEO Retro-Processing @ Univ. Wisconsin • Completed and Delivered the GOES vs AIRS retrospective GSICS processing done for GOES Imagers • GOES-08 through -12 • Meteosat Second Generation (MSG) vs AIRS code installed and working at CIMSS • Some data delivered • Proposed order for back-processing of non-GOES imagers: • MSG (MET-9 done, MET-started) , MET-7 (done), MET-5 • MTSAT (GMS-5) • FY-2C • FY-2D • FY-2E • MET-8 and MET-9 begun
Product Updates • Two GEO-LEO IR products in pre-Op phase • EUMETSAT vs. IASI product • GOES Imager vs. IASI product • MTSAT product is close to pre-Op, need the undergoing uncertainty analysis • One new product in demonstration phase • NOAA (A)MSU LEO-LEO • It is agreed that bias monitoring is a powerful tool, not a product.
Update of GSICS Products Products in Demo and higher levels *: Currently product is based on IASI. Plan to use AIRS/CrIS for the midnight correction

Challenges to promote MW products • Very limit response to review the MW product • Only one panel responded to review part of the products • Possible Solution • Re-organize the WM subgroup? • Cheng-Zhi Zou has identified additional reviewers • “One suggestion is that we probably need to have a microwave calibration meeting sometimes next year. STAR had such meetings in March 2010 on Microwave Sounding and Imagery and in 2011 on AMSU surface channels. These were very successful meetings. Now STAR has several groups working on microwave calibration and products. So a microwave meeting at NCWCP should be appealing to the community.” - email from C. Zou
