  3. Igneous Rock • Formed from cooledlava/magma. • Can come from a volcano or when the top of the mantlecools. • Ex: Granite, Basalt, Pumice

  4. Sedimentary Rock • Formed when rock and plant sediments are deposited and compacted together over long periods of time. • Ex: Limestone, Shale, Sandstone • Weathering: Breaking down of rock through wind, ice, heat, water, etc. • Erosion: Carrying away weathered rock through wind, water, gravity, etc.

  5. Metamorphic Rock • When rock is put under intenseheat and pressureunderground it transforms. • Formed from anyof the 3 types of rock. • Ex: Slate, Marble, Schist
