Nuisance Items • Any item that is a nuisance to classroom and unrelated to class goals • For example: • Mobile telephones • iPods and iPads • Notebook (laptop) computers • Must be switched off and out of sight at all times (without exception)
Vandalism • Willful or malicious destruction of public or private property • For example: • Writing on desks or signs (even in pencil) • Putting gum under a desk • Touching classroom resources without permission • Moving desks without permission
Safety • Spiked and studded accessories • Throwing objects • Bag-free aisles • Between rows 2 and 3 • Between rows 4 and 5 • Crisis management • Expulsion offenses
Inappropriate Language • Swearing • Racist (e.g. “n”-word) • Sexist/gender bias • Anti-religious • Xenophobic • Mental retardation (e.g. “retarded”) • Homophobic (e.g. “fag”, “that’s so gay!”)
Inappropriate Language (cont.) • Transphobic (e.g. “tranny”) • Disparaging (e.g. “stupid,” “dumb”) • Physical characteristics (e.g. “fat”) • Anti-social (e.g. “redneck”, “poor”) • Anti-political • Sexually suggestive
Toilet Passes • Emergencies only • Toilet passes will not be issued: • In the first or last 10 minutes of the period • Before 11:22 in Period 5 • If you don’t have your student agenda • After 2 passes have already been issued in the same term • During quizzes, tests, and exams
Annoying Habits • Pen clicking, tapping • Chewing gum • Sniffling • Blowing your nose • Continuous coughing • Saying “bless you” after someone sneezes
