Notes • PATA has grouped the destination members of the Association (and some non-members) into five regions. The term “Asia Pacific” as used by PATA consists of the total area embraced by these regions, which is as follows: • The Americas: Canada, Chile, Mexico and the USA • Northeast Asia: China (PRC), Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong SAR, Japan, Korea (ROK), Macau SAR, and Mongolia • South Asia: Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka • Southeast Asia: Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam • The Pacific: Australia, Cook Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Fiji, Guam, Hawaii, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, New Caledonia, New Zealand, Niue, Northern Marianas, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tahiti, Tonga, Tuvalu, and Vanuatu

Southeast Asia: source market trends • Based on the 2009 arrivals data of Cambodia, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand: • Northeast Asia arrivals down by more than 10%: • 12% decline in arrivals from Japan and nearly 30% fall in Korea (ROK) arrivals • Intra-ASEAN arrivals grew 8%: • Singapore arrivals to Malaysia rose 16% while Malaysia arrivals to Singapore rose 18% • Thailand missing out: arrivals from other ASEAN countries fell 1% • US arrivals down 4% • European arrivals up 3%: • Key European markets of the UK, Germany and France recorded increases in arrivals to the sub-region Source: respective NTOs/NSAs, compiled by PATA
