Aims • Consideration of how the increasing prevalence of some modifiable cardiovascular risk factors in the Scottish population may affect future incidence and prevalence of TIA, stroke and vascular dementia in Scotland. • Consideration of gaps in national vascular health policy and strategy. • Potential solutions.

Over-arching, coherent vascular health/disease strategy for Scotland • Balance and synergy between population, community, family and individual interventions • Most cost effective regulatory and supportive measures in terms in terms of diet, physical activity, as well as tobacco and alcohol • Utilise contributions of all sectors more effectively – statutory, voluntary, private, academic

  15. 2. Setting up of Vascular Health Alliance in Scotland • To lobby and support delivery, evaluation and review of the above. • Partnership of all sectors.
