“Q” Project by learners from Bridge College in 2005. It involves the learners using I.C.T. equipment to support communication and independence. It is a way for learners who can’t communicate to have an opportunity of communicating themselves.
Learners involved in Touching Communication are Claire Moffatt, Amiee Dillion, Stacey Ridden and Nadien McDonald.
Julie is supporting Catherine to access the computer using the Tracker One, a head pointing device. It uses a special programme to control the cursor by her head movement.
Hayley is using the Sound Beam Switch Box to play music by touching the coloured switch pads .
Lloyd is playing the “Life skills” game. He has to look at the screen and listen for directions to help his chosen character get ready for the day. He can use the mouse.
Learners using the computers in the Ian Karten “C TEC” Centre
Sarah uses a switch mounted on her headrest to operate her Vanguard communication aid. She has to concentrate very hard on her “talker” as it scans for the next message.
