  1. Copy Into Comp Book March 31,2014 Objective : I will identify figurative language in idomatic phrases. Idioms: Clear as Mud Remember that IDIOMS are phrases that have come to be learned by their FIGURATIVE meaning in our culture. If someone from another culture heard an idiom and took it LITERALLY, they would think we were really strange.

  2. The Assignment Deadline 4/2/14 • Pick an idiom from the yellow container and get a piece of typing paper. • Once you have looked at your idiom, do NOT put it back in the yellow container – throw it away. • Create a FULL-SIZED COLORED picture on typing paper that DEPICTS THE LITERAL MEANING OF THE IDIOM (Not the meaning that we have come to accept it as). • Write the idiom on the BACK of the picture. • Then pick up a sheet with all the idioms on it and begin to define the FIGURATIVE meaning of the idiom. Use a netbook if necessary.
