Marketing and Processing • Soybeans can sold as is or can be processed • Processing can produce a number of products • But the two largest are soybean meal and soybean oil • Soybean meal is mainly used for livestock feed • Soybean oil is often used for food or industrial uses • Some unique soybean-based products: asphalt, crayons, lubricants, wax

Iowa Processing • Over 30 processing plants with an annual processing capacity greater than state production • Some plants specialize in capturing unique traits, such as organic production, or high protein or oil content • A few specialize in food products, soybean meal, flour, flakes, and snacks
