What is HOSA? NOT AN ORDINARY PRE-HEALTH SOCIETY! • AN INTERNATIONAL STUDENT-LED organization composed of 200,000 members in over 2,650 chapters in fifty-four state associations, including chapters in Mexico, Canada, Italy, and Germany, as well as here in the United States • HOSA is officially endorsed by the United States Department of Education and every state DOE (in states where HOSA exists) • was officially organized at a Constitutional Convention held in Arlington, TX in 1976. Attendees included state supervisors, state advisors, teachers, and over 300 student leaders.
Purpose of HOSA: The purpose of HOSA is to develop the leadership abilities of its members through a health professions program of motivation, awareness, competition, awards, scholarships, and recognition at the local, state, and national levels These opportunities include the following: 3
