Deadlines, Drafts and Delays… • Many scholarship and program deadlines occur early in the fall • You may be able to use the same core essay over and over with slight changes, but maybe not • Good essays require 5-20 drafts • Recommendation writers need you to be organized • Summer is a GREAT time to plan ahead
How to Get Organized…in 6 Steps • Research what you are applying for • Know your deadlines • Know the applications (number of essays, special items to submit, like portfolios) • Know how many references you need and what type • Create a spreadsheet, list or other document to keep yourself on track • Prioritize
