  3. Collect & Import Data • Collect qualitative data eg focus group, survey, dialogue • Import all data into New Project as txt or rtf files and save • Browse your data documents within Document Explorer

  4. Identify Themes • Determine Text Unit • Annotations within text record observation • Memos record personal thoughts, memos, reminders • Themes are clustered into Free Nodes

  5. Word Repetition Indigenous categories Keywords in Context Compare & Contrast What’s Missing? Metaphors, Analogies Transitions Connectors Unmarked text Pawing through text Cutting & sorting for sub themes Methods for Identifying Themes

  6. Searching • Searching is done as: • TEXT Searches that can be further divided into: • STRING Searches - a sequence of characters • PATTERN Searches - eg want/need/desire

  7. Cluster Themes into Tree Nodes • Create Tree Nodes by clustering Free Nodes in the Index Tree • View & manipulate nodes in Tree Display Window = a powerful hierarchical index system for analysis

  8. Latent Analysis • Tables are possible to display Cluster Analysis of findings • Matrix analysis can be done to display category & node data

  9. Final Report • Narrative summary of identified themes, memos, annotations • Table summary of theme and subthemes • Matrix summary of categories
