  1. Movaz Upgrades • Replace serial filters with parallel filters on BLDR-DEN span • Upgrade BLDR-LONG-FORT spans to dense WDM from coarse WDM • Install new DWDM ring at FRGP

  2. Filter Upgrade • Serial filters have low loss per lambda, but adds up with each additional lambda. • Parallel filter has higher loss, but you only need one • Break-even point is at about 3 or 4 lambda's which is where we are today.

  3. Coarse to Dense Upgrade • BLDR-LONG-FORT currently has cheaper CWDM optics installed • No amplification • Can't handle 10GigE • Upgrade brings this span closer to 10GigE ready

  4. FRGP Ring • FRGP DREAM ring connects 1200 Larimer, 1850 Pearl and 910 15th. • Currently an etherchannel of two 1G Ethernets around each side of the ring • Upgrade would use optical protection to split each Ethernet around both sides of the ring • Fiber cuts would be (almost) invisible
