  4. SCI Gateway for Dentists • Improved quality and completeness of data being sent • Improved speed and reliability of transmission • Record of receipt: senders can track status and inform patients • Referral forms can include advice screens, e.g. guidelines on when to refer, etc Benefits

  5. SCI Gateway for Dentists • CHI: • SCI Gateway allows boards to decide • Dentists currently have no access to CHI • Paper referrals don’t have the CHI • Referrals received in Forth Valley via SCI Gateway, not SCI Store Issues

  6. SCI Gateway for Dentists • Configuring practices in SCI Gateway: • Practice info from ISD not yet available for dental practices • Manual entry must be done centrally, not by the boards Issues

  7. SCI Gateway for Dentists • Health records wasn’t configured to receive dental referrals: • Was noticed within days during the pilot Other issues • One receiver was deleting referrals when finished processing: • Noticed by practices; rectified with further training

  8. SCI Gateway for Dentists • Size limit of 2 MB on attachments could interfere with sending x-rays: • Informal survey of boards indicates most x-rays are less than the limit • One practice in Forth Valley produces larger file sizes, but this could be a configuration error Other issues
