  2. Idiom • “Figure of speech”

  3. Idiom • Group of words that say one thing, but mean something completely different.

  4. Examples of Idioms: “It was a piece of cake!” Meaning: It was easy to do

  5. Examples of Idioms: • “Keep your eyes peeled!” • Meaning: • Watch Carefully

  6. Put your money where your mouth is. Meaning: Don’t just talk about something, buy it or invest in it.

  7. You are dead meat! • I’m angry with you. (threatening)

  9. Simile • Comparing two unlike things using the words “like” or “as”

  10. Simile • The 2 unlike things do have to have at least one thing in common though…

  11. Examples of Simile: Jennifer eats like a pig. (Both Jennifer and a pig are messy eaters)

  12. Examples of Simile: • Jake was as happy as a kitten with a new ball of yarn. • (both Jake and the kitten • are happy)
