IMSModel Merging Description • Merge models process • Start situation:Source model files ( model A, model B) reside in ProjectWise dmg. • End situation: • Merged model file (model A + model B = model C) is stored in ProjectWise. • To perform model merging , models A and B should be uploaded to EPM-EDM model server, merged there and then the result file model C is sent back to ProjectWise dmg. • Description • The merge operation is considered as updating a model. Updating means the addition, deletion or change of a part of the existing model. The mechanism for model merging is defined by TNO. The "EDM Control Servlet", called IMS Servlet B, is developed by VTT. It connects to ProjectWise database and extracts the specified source model files (e.g. model A and model B) from the ProjectWise database. The EDM Control servlet sends the files and the merging instruction into the EDM database. EDM executes the actual merge-command. The result file (e.g. model C) is created and is exported as a step physical file into the ProjectWise database. The source files and the result files are always stored into the ProjectWise database. • The merging instructions are given by using a merge-form, which is added, as an interface to ProjectWise web client. • Further information • Reports describing the IFC Browser work are available in the Download Area. • Contacts at TNO are Peter Bonsma: P.Bonsma@bouw.tno.nl& Robert Los PR.Los@bouw.tno.nl
