  1. Distribution of Shariah Investment Products

    In order to understand the distribution of Shariah Compliant Products we first need to understand by answering few fundamental questions
  2. Islamic Investment & Products Investments that comply with the principles of Islamic norms Investments that are not deriving benefits by activities, such as interest-based, alcohol, pork, tobacco, gambling, vulgar entertainments etc
  3. Shariah law & Products Shariah means Islamic Law Shariah compliance means adhering to the Principle of Shariah that is Islamic law like- Short selling, that is selling a product, which is not owned at the time of sale, is prohibited. As per Shariah principles, a person should not sell a product, which he is not able to deliver. Even sale of products owned but not in constructive possession of the seller is not allowed. Hence, all types of futures and options contracts, be it stock, commodity, currency or bond, are prohibited under Shariah Law.

Shariah Vs Conventional Products Shariah products are guided by the core principles like- Justice, Transparency, Common interest, Encouragement of Profit and loss sharing & Public need or necessity. Shariah products are guided by following prohibitions like- Riba (Interest), Gharar (Deceive/Cheat/overall uncertainty), Maysir(Gambling),ProhibitedSector(Tobacco/Liquor/Pork/Pornography), Conditionality (Guaranteed Return) Conventional products are not restricted to the above principles and prohibitions.

India has second largest Muslim population in the world after Indonesia and might become the largest in future as per the comparative growth rate of the past; the same is divided in three categories : One who is already investing without getting bothered by the nature of the investment options. Second are those who are investing in non Shariah investment options but would prefer to invest in Shariah based options, if given a choice. Third which is the largest in numbers are the one who are not investing at all as are very particular about investing only in Shariah compliant investment options.  More over we observed that Shariah is a style of ethical investment practices beneficial to the society as a whole and can be adopted by anyone in the society.
