Jam Writing: Usage • After you have a good idea, start looking at form. • After form is decided, look at audience. • Write a first draft. • Begin the editing process. • Share your piece with the intended audience.
Informal Writing • Informal Writing (ie. poetry) is for a broad audience. • Formal writing (ie. 5-paragraph essay) is for a small (often 1 person) audience—designed to check your learning. • Informal writing like fiction, drama, and poetry are best created through sharp mental images of people or scenes and have conflict. • Emulate, but don’t imitate your favorite writers. • Dialogue should be fresh and seem real.
