Introduction • What kind of technologies and websites can we use during the lesson? • Advantages and disadvantages of using technologies and websites • Teaching ENGLISH with technology • How websites help teachers and pupils to learn English better • Word and PowerPoint based activities and teaching ideas • Using materials • Practical task

Advantages and disadvantages of using technologies and websites • Advantages: • • More active learning • • Diversified teaching methods • • Better student attention • • Less time and energy • • Visual stimulation • • Real communication – lots of ‘community’ functions on the Internet such as forums, email etc. • • Storage – you can save work for future access and sharing

It is interesting and motivating • Using different kind texts, graphics, videos, pictures • Having online lessons, students can use authentic language • Using blogs, wikis to work with students • To find linking partner • Promoting independent learning • Students learn IT skills together with the language • Having fun

  5. Easy Access to information: It has become very easy to get access to relevant information at any time anywhere. This has been possible because of modern technologies like broadband internet.  Lots of data is being published and indexed online, sites like Wikipedia and Youtube have great original content which can be used in research or entertainment.  Information is power, and those who find information and use it well always succeed. 

  6. Improved communication:Communication is like water to life. We can not develop withoutcommunication. Modern technology has blessed us with advanced communication technology tools. These can include e-fax machines, electronic mail, mobile phones,videoconferencing, instant text messaging applications, social networking applications. All these modern communication technology tools have simplified the way humans and businesses communicate. I can easily talk to my relative oversees using a mobile phone or video chatting services like Skype.

  7. Convenience in Education: Learning is a process and it is part of our daily lives. Modern technology has made it simple for students to learn from any where through onlineeducationand mobile education. Also students now use modern technology in classrooms to learn better. For example, students use ipads to share visual lessons and examples with peers in the classroom. This has made learning more convenient and fan. Also new modern educational technologies support individual learning which gives a chance to students to learn on their own with no need of tutors.

  8. Disadvantages: • There could appear technical problems • Lack of IT skills both teachers and students • Mixed ability- some students are advanced and some are slow • Classroom management-teacher could find it difficult to draw students' attention • Slow Internet connection

  9. Using technologies and websites Technology and websites are becoming very important in the classrooms. The use of technology allows teachers to diversify their lessons, display more information, and enhance student learning. By using different technologies in the classroom, this can help teachers save time and energy and allow for more attention to be paid to the course content. There are many different learning materials available in order to help pupils with their learning.

  10. Websites include different kind of activities. Students can develop their skills in writing, reading, listening task . They can make their own puzzles, quizzes, crosswords. Students have ability to create blogs and share their experience with native students or foreigner. Visual materials help student to learn more easily. You can find any kind of pictures in the internet.

  11.   12. Practical task Activity 1 (For high level students) Where have all the verbs gone? All the verbs have been taken out of this text. Work in group to put them back in again.

  13. MOTHER’S DAY A man at a flower shop to order some flowers to be wired to his mother who two hundred miles away. As he got out of his car he a young girl sitting on the curb sobbing. He asked her what was wrong and she replied, “I to buy a red rose for my mother. But I only have seventy-five cents, and a rose costs two dollars.” The man and said, “Come on in with me. I’ll buy you a rose.” He bought the little girl her rose and ordered his own mother’s flowers. As they were leaving he offered the girl a ride home. She said, “Yes, please! You can me to my mother .” She directed him to a cemetery, where she placed the rose on a freshly dug grave. The man to the flower shop, canceled the wire order, picked up a bouquet and the two hundred miles to his mother’s house.

Activity 2 • (For elementary level students) • Try to guess the verbs. • To choose participant to guess the verbs; • All the verbs and pictures will be shown by projector, but one participant will not be able to see it. Rest of the participant will describe these verbs by acting and she will try to guess

  32. Activity 3 • (For high level students) • The longest sentence • Look at the sentence below. Add words to the sentence to make it longer. Rules: • The sentence must be grammatically correct • Only one word at a time can be added •  Give the keyboard to one participant and ask them to add one word to extend the sentence. •  Pass the keyboard to the next participant and ask them to add one more word.

  34. Activity 4 (For high level students) This is a clip of the movie Finding Nemo. Finding Nemo is movie on the ocean and animals within the ocean, but it is a Disney animated film.
