  3. Checking the software will talk to the interface • From the file menu select ‘interface’. • Select the control interface you are using from the drop down list. • Select the ‘Com Port’ your interface is plugged into.

  4. The Junior Serial Interface: Inputs: Sensors (light, temperature, sound) Switches Push Buttons Pressure Pads Outputs: Bells Motors Buzzers Lights

  5. Opening the software

  6. This is the first page you will see! These connect the inputs to the outputs! Here are some inputs you can drag onto your page! Here are some outputs you can drag onto your page!

  7. Now lets look at the menu bar a bit closer!!

  8. Zoom Buttons Display scene Display System Display control box New Open Save Print You will recognise these icons from other programs you have used! This part of the menu stays all the time. Other parts change depending on what you are doing. Design Run Check Control

  9. New: Plan and write your own instructions Examples: Instructions which have already been written. Projects: Control projects for you to work through Fix-its: Examples which don’t work – you need to solve the problems Tutorials: Control situations to work through to help you understand the software better

  10. Starting From Scratch: Choose ‘NEW’ Then choose ‘A Full Gallery’ to make sure that you can select from all of the inputs and outputs!

  12. Why won’t … • The control box work? • Is it connected to a power supply and switched on • Is it connected to a computer – check the ‘interface’ form the file menu • Are you in ‘control mode’
