  4. Curriculum 2000 Changes: Reminder • GCE A Level • 6 modules form A Level qualification • First 3 modules form AS qualification • Second 3 modules (A2) include synoptic modules • Used as an indicator of depth of study

  5. Curriculum 2000 Changes: Reminder • GCE AS Level • Main qualification for broadening curriculum • Deliver basic skills and concepts • Completed (for most) in Year 1 of Post-16 programme • Grades available for HE application (some exceptions) • Extra information would aid HE selection

Curriculum 2000 Changes: Reminder • Key Skills • Units certificated independently of qualification • Main Key Skills qualification includes Application of Number, Communication and IT • Assessment via external assessment(L3 1½hr /unit) and portfolio • Main Key Skills carry UCAS points, Wider Key Skills do not.

  21. The New UCAS Tariff • Used for entry requirements and offers • Includes all Curriculum 2000 qualifications • 120 points for 6 units • 3:1 grade ratio • Qualification points aggregated- no cap • No double counting (except KS proxies) • Not mandatory for HE to use the tariff
