Students will be able to search for sources via our online catalog, CPS databases, Library of Congress website, and the internet and evaluate them so that they are accurate and credible. • 2.   3. Directions: Read the article silently. With your table group, discuss what elements of the article make it a credible or trusted article. Are there any elements that make this article not credible or untrustworthy? • Whole Group: How do you know if a source is reliable? • What is your evaluation process for sources? What do you do to make sure that the source can be trusted? What makes a source credible?

  4. Reputation? (Conservative, Liberal, Neutral) • Purpose of Organization? • University? Media? Nonprofit? • Who is the publisher/Organization behind this article? P—Publisher, Organization

  5. Education • Affiliation • Expertise in Field • Job/Years of Experience • Proven Track Record • No bias/No economic connection • Who is the author behind this publication? What is his background? A-Author

  6. To inform? • To persuade? • To call to action? • To educate? • To make you laugh? • To sell something? • To mislead you? • What is the purpose of this article? P-Purpose
