Purpose • The purpose of General Education Assessment is to measure student learning based on student work from an aggregated, institutional perspective. The six GEOs focus on institutional level student learning outcomes which may be assessed across the curriculum. CAC will NOT use GEO assessment results to evaluate instructors.

1. Plan Assessment Course Lottery (February) and Academic Leadership notified of summer and fall courses selected Assessment Team (AT) notified by Director of Student Learning Assessment Assessment Leader (AL) selected AL attends training AT sets assessment parameters and timeline to meet deadlines AL submits plan to GEO chair/SLA director • Courses selected by Lottery system February 2012) and Academic Leadership is informed of Courses drawn in Lottery • Instructional Team notified by Director of Student Learning Assessment (after instructors finalized) • Course Assessment Leader (CAL) selected at first meeting or based on experience • CAL attends training • Instructional Team determines sample • The CAL submits the Plan
2. Collect Data • CAT implements plan • A. Reviews GEO Map, Institutional GEO Rubric • B. Selects best artifact(s) to assess • C. Scores artifact(s) using the Rubric • D. Records Scores and Student IDs on Data forms • Assessment Leader • A. Reviews forms (accuracy/completeness) • B. Submits sample SLA Director
3. Interpret Results • The TEAM (AT) uses the IPR report to • - further analyze findings • - expand the analysis to include qualitative data and other information • AL, AT, GEO Executive, Divisions, and cross-disciplinary teams including students review the results
4. Act on Results • Results are shared at the division level and suggestions gathered • Faculty determine best opportunities/strategies for improving student learning • Team led by the Assessment Leader writes report including best improvement for implementation
5. Report • CAL leads CAT to write reports • Highlights shared with CAC/Governing Board • Posted to BB: Evidence of Student Success • Program Owners act on results • Results impact Academic Program Review
