We offer: Short termed social and health educational programmes Level 1: 14 month Level 2: 18 – 24 month Introduction courses 20/40/60 weeks Supplementary training programmes We have around 1000 yearly students, 3000 persons for supplementary training. 30 % are immigrants/refugees Entry requirements – basic primary school or graduating the intro year Age from 16 to 61 years
We have: Many students with personal problems Many with diagnosis Many who have to be re-educated to another work area. Huge number of “bad readers” Huge number of people who failed primary school. Lot of students who starts the third or fourth career of education. We know that if students fail at our college – 5years later most of them will receive social benefits. They will finally be disadvantaged in the statistics. You might consider if they also were disadvantaged when the were at our college.
One initiative to support students and to fight drop out. SosuMedia A unit for production and development of high quality pedagogical educational material within the area of social and health education. SosuMedia Established in 2002 Project leader & 3 multimedia designers.
We believe in The extraordinary possibilities of interactive visual technology to increase the quality of educational material Basically for all kind of students But especially we believe that interactive visual based educational material would be very supportive for students with special needs or special challenges to manage education.
The media and learning philosophy of sosuMedia The web-based materials produced by SosuMedia are always reflected in those learning processes in which the participants develop their professional and personal competences – and especially their motivation, curiosity and learning desire. We have now more and more a special focus on learners with low educational background.
The media and learning philosophy of sosuMedia Our media and learning philosophy is very much based on an interpretation and adaption of the media pedagogicsdeveloped by the MIT Media Lab in Boston and implemented in the global youth project Computer Clubhouse Network. This media pedagogics is based on a radical expansion of the constructivist approach adding to this an important and very practical design and communication process.
In many ways we are very much inspired by the Computer Clubhouse philosophy (MIT lab Boston). • Principle 1: Support Learning Through Design Experiences • Principle 2: Help Members Build on Their Own Interests • Principle 3: Cultivate an Emergent Community of Learners • Principle 4: Create an Environment of Respect and Trust
