Education (Additional Support for Learning) (Scotland) Act 2004 Child has additional support needs if the child: • is likely to be unable, without the provision of additional support, to benefit from school education. Additional support means: • provision which is additional to, or otherwise different from, that generally available to those of the same age.

What is the ASL Act? • Aims to ensure that all children and young people with additional support needs receive the necessary help to ensure they benefit from school education.

  6. Inclusion Planning Do we need a Coordinated Support Plan (CSP) and a GIRFEC Plan • CSP is a statutory plan – statutory requirement to prepare one. • Where there is multi-agency intervention GIRFEC principles point to having a single planning process.
