Legal Background • Legal Liceses, remunerated by levies • Non title specific payment • Collection in lumpsums, • international exchange: • country quota in lumpsums • fine art individualized using the information from primary rights licensing • Dsitribution based on surveys and objective availability

Technical identifiers used • IPI: to process information about dierect members and members of partner organisations (IP Base-Nr. and IP Name-Nr.) • ISBN: to bundle information about author´s claims with respect to a specific publication and to countercheck the pauslibility of claims • ISAN (film identifier) and IDA (filmauthor´s database) in the audiovisual field

Exchange Formats • CISAC exchange formats for audiovisual and still image (for allocation to partner socs, supplying them with machine readable information on uses made and remuneration collected and for claiming remuneration) • ONIX is not actively applied but information received in ONIX can easily be processed

Information needed to distribute (Books) Identification of publication: ISBN, Title, publisher, year of the latest edition, laguage Type of publication: Children and juvenile Book, School book, special interest/catalogue, scientific publication Type of work: art (including grafic design, vignetes, cartoons) or photography Type of use: Cover or inside the book

Information needed to distribute(Digital sources) • Medium (CD/DVD/Internet) and year • Full title or url and publisher or owner of the website • Classification of website owner (museum, gallery, school/university, public admin., media/TV/newspaper, publishing house, other commercial user or private site) • Type of works (art, graphic design, photography) and number per medium • Additional material contained in accompany • ing booklet

  7. Infomation needed to distribute(newspaper and magazine) • Uses are often difficult to identify for the individual author because rights were mostly granted by agencies • Distribution in relation to annual remuneration recieved for uses in these media, to be confirmed by a chartered accountant if payment exceeds € 60.000 / p.a.
