How the system works When you breath in air the air enters your nose and your mouth and goes down a long tube called the trachea the trachea’s braches takes the air into two bronchial tubes or primary bronchi which goes to the lungs. Then the primary bronchi brakes off into even smaller bronchial tubes or bronchioles the bronchioles end up in the alveoli or air sacs. Oxygen follows this path and passes though the walls of the air sacs. After that the blood vessels enter the blood stream at the same time carbon dioxide passes in to the lungs and is exhaled.
