Water JPI Mobility and Infrastructures workshop Giuseppina Monacelli Rome Italy 21 June 2018
Task 7.2 – Mobility and Infrastructures platform Task start date: M1 (January 2016); Task End date: M60 (December 2020) Leader: ISPRA; Participants: EPA, UEFISCDI, BLE, MIUR, MIPAAF, JUELICH • T7.2 will review existing mobility and infrastructure schemes (EU, transnational, JPI and national levels), with the objective of preparing “a la carte” mobility & infrastructure actions, which could be implemented within the Water JPI Community. • This task will explore and build linkages between the Water JPI and the European Strategy Forum on Research Infrastructures. Stakeholders targeted by the proposed Mobility Actions could include researchers, staff but also Research funders (in the context of exchange/sharing of good practices). • There is also a potential to align national tools through coordination between national and EU calls to facilitate researcher mobility.
1° workshop for Task 7.2 – Rome 21 June 2018 2018 Water JPI Mobility/Infrastructures Workshopsubject: • Developing the mobility and infrastructures activities within the context of the Water JPI • Analysis of the results from surveys on mobility and infrastructures platforms • Analysis of possible alignment of national and European tools through coordination between national and EU programmes so to facilitate researcher mobility • Analysis of the possibilities to cooperate on mobility actions with other platforms such as the Euraxess Platform • Exploring Infrastructure schemes promoting linkages between the Water JPI and European and national Infrastructures programmes (i.e. ESFRI) and platforms (i.e. MERIL) • Brainstorming on the platform prototypes • Develop synergies with existing programmes and existing platforms
Previous steps For Infrastructure: • ESFRI definition of Research infrastructure; • General definition of Research Infrastructures • Review of existing research infrastructures; • Review of existing research infrastructures platform; • Online survey For Mobility: • Review of Mobility Actions(EU mobility actions, national, international and inter-sectoral cooperation for mobility of researchers, water research and innovation communities and staff. • Review of Mobility Platform with a focus on EURAXESS • Online survey
ESFRI Research Infrastructures ESFRI - European Strategy Forum on Research Infrastructures Whatis a RI ? “RI are facilities, resources and services that are used by the research communities to conduct research and foster innovation in their fields. They include: major scientific equipment (or sets of instruments), knowledge-based resources such as collections, archives and scientific data, e-infrastructures, such as data and computing systems and communication networks and any other tools that are essential to achieve excellence in research and innovation.”
Research Infrastructures General definition of RI – Italian Roadmap • Global Infrastructures (G-RI): International infrastructures with social-economic impact on the long term (>10 years) • European Infrastructures (EU-RI): research infrastrucures with headquarters or nodes in Italy or other EU Country. The social an economic impact is on the short and mid term • National Infrastructures (N-RI) : Strong connection with local reality with immediate impact.
Research Infrastructures General definition of RI – Italian Roadmap • Big Infrastractures: laboratories and observatory located in a single site where researchers make their jobs (for example museum, astronomic observatory, particleaccelerators etc.) • Distributed infrastructures:research activities through different nodes (sites) with complementary characteristics, located around the world. • e-infrastructures: RI network for super-computing and super-calculator (e.g. Marconi Super Computer by CINECA)
Research Infrastructures Review of existing RI Platforms
MOBILITYEU, National and International mobilityactions Water JPI mobility platform has the aim to enlarge existing mobility actions in order to facilitate research networks, individual fellowships, research and innovation staff exchanges for national, international and inter-sectoral cooperation etc. Through an interactive platform, it could be possible to access information about mobility actions and programs, as Marie Skłodowska-Curie (https://ec.europa.eu/research/mariecurieactions). 1996 / 2016 - 20° anniversary of Marie Curie Actions
Next steps for Task 7.2 Development of the platforms
Next steps for Task 7.2 2° Workshop in 2019 2019 Water JPI Mobility/Infrastructures Workshopsubject: • Investigating possible funding mechanisms for Infrastructure/Mobility • Exchange among larger groups of stakeholders • Presentation of “A la carte” options for Mobility / Infrastructure Actions” • Exchange views on findings/recommendations resulting in the production of a “A La Carte” options document targeted at the Water JPI Community
