Clopidogrel It was first approved for commercial use by the FDA in 1997. It's biggest known brand name is Plavix. Clopidogrel is also called an antiplatelet; which means it prevents blood clots. It helps reduce the chances of heart attack, stroke, and other vascular diseases.
Clopidogrel Since it is a pharmaceutical, it has many side effects such as: (Taken straight from Plavix Official website) (http://www.plavix.com/clopidogrel/side-effects-of-plavix.aspx) Purplish spots (called purpura) on the skin or in the mouth (mucous membranes) due to bleeding under the skin your skin or the whites of your eyes are yellow (jaundice) you feel tired or weak your skin looks very pale fever fast heart rate or feeling short of breath headache speech changes confusion coma stroke seizure low amount of urine, or urine that is pink or has blood in it stomach area (abdominal) pain nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea vision changes Unusual bleeding patterns
Clopidogrel It can be toxic, or harmful if you take it with other certain medications (Prilosec or Nexium) or if you have certain genetic factors. These will decrease the effect of the drug meaning you will not be as protected as you could be from those vascular diseases. It can also be harmful if overdosed on.
