  2. Setting • It takes place in a little town. • They mess around in Gloria Dump’s back yard. • Opal found a job at a pet store.

  3. Otis • He plays music. That’s his thing. • He went to jail for hitting a cop. • Now he is a manager at a pet store.

  4. Stevie • He picks on people like Opal. • He had a bald head from having fleas. • He got called a bald-headed baby.

  5. Conflicts • Stevie and Dunlap hate having fleas. • Opal is lonely because nobody likes her. • Otis doesn’t like being around too many people.

  6. Climax Everybody was outside in a thunderstorm. They forgot about Winn-Dixie. They went inside and Winn-Dixie was gone. Then they kept looking for him, but found no sign of him.

  7. Thoughts • I liked how Winn-Dixie smiles! • I liked how Otis got the animals to calm down! • I was surprised that Winn-Dixie listened! • Stevie and Dunlap should be quiet. • Stevie is sometimes like me.
