  4. 3. MANAGING DIVERSITY of people, structures, processes • vertical and horizontal forms of diversity such as vertical—overcome hierarchical barriers upward and downward horizontal—overcome barriers due to functions and jobs and people differences

  5. 4. WE ASSUME ROLES FOR WHICH ORGANIZATIONS & PEOPLE ARE ILL-PREPARED • social responsibility and profits • win/win solutions in win/lose games • linear and process-oriented thinking ALL call for an integrative approach to managing: • processes • structures • people
