Strategic Collaborative Sourcing • Background on Collaborative Procurement • Early 2009 -- Manhattan contracts with Unimarket, launches design process on Collaborative RFx • Late 2009 – UNSH contracts with Unimarket, becomes major design partner in RFx • March, 2010 – first release introduced at annual NAEP by USNH • 2011-2012 – RFx now being deployed by customers • This presentation reports on results from two customers, Manhattan College and Central Ohio Technical College
Background on COTC • Contracted with Unimarket for eSourcing (RFx), June, 2011 • Configured and live within 4 weeks • Trained procurement department buyers • Launched first collaborative bids (internal collaboration) • Worked with OACC to launch first external collaborative bid (Energy management) • Intend to add eProcurement modules in July, 2012 • Public four campus operation with 5,000 students • Active bid management requirements • Leverage State of Ohio, E&I, IUCPG contracts among others • Need to bid own projects • Want to collaborate with others • Member of 23 institution OACC
Background on Manhattan College • Contracted with Unimarket for eProcurement and eSourcing, March, 2009 • Integrated to Banner • Over 150 end users, approvers • Active user of RFQ functionality (rapid quotes) • Active initiator of Collaborative RFx events • Private college located in New York City • 3200 students • Active bid event setting • Leverage E&I and contracts established through consortium • Bids own projects • Collaborates with others • Member of Lower Hudson Catholic Consortium (10 institutions)

Benefits • End-to-end process efficiencies through the Web • Links in evaluation team -- time saver for them, time saver for Procurement office • Brings multi-campus “same” bid needs together • No need to wrestle over specifications when collaborating • Pools purchasing demand when externally collaborating – lowering unit pricing for all • Do not have to be a Unimarket customer to participate in bid events
Lessons Learned • Suppliers may resist “revised” sourcing method • End user departments may resist as well! • Not all bidders are technically savvy • Achieving external collaboration still takes effort , communications • Take the time to set up standard evaluation criteria used on all bid events
