What is a case Selection? • A sample of cases that are related to the focus area • A sample of cases to examine any variables or similarities
How Should we pull cases? • Cases chosen in consultation with CDSS • Use SafeMeasures and/or UC Berkeley Data Reports • Study the methodology • Probation: Use the methodology to match cases to the criteria for the selected outcome measure
Children’s Resource Center (CRC) & Safe Measures • CDSS can assist the county with using Safe Measures for pulling cases. • The County can request additional CRC assistance through their CDSS consultant • Safe Measures can be made accessible to counties during the PQCR that do not subscribe to this tool • Planning, implementation and wrap up phases.
Case review tool • When using a case review tool, be sure to incorporate the following: • Methodology • Demographics of the County • Outcomes (Achieved vs. Not Achieved)
Sample case Selection • Things to consider for your sample: • Number of teams reviewing cases • Sample should be representative of county’s population and/or demographics • SW/PO should be knowledgeable about the case • One SW/PO per case • Identify back-up cases
When does the case selection need to be completed? • As early as possible (After the Literature Review, but before the development of the interview tool) • Recommended time frame: 2 months before PQCR, 1 month at the latest
