  3. Service-Learning: a semester long community service project for course credit. Students engage in hands-on service activities at local partnering agencies Apply course material to address real community issues. Reflect on service experiences.

  4. Commitments: serve 15 hours BCC’s community partners Complete course assignments Submit required paperwork

  6. Expectations: Commitment = 15 hours of servicePreparation = on time & on taskProfessionalism = positive attitude attendance & organization Integrity = confidentiality & privacyAbsentee Policy = 24 hr noticeDress code = clean and conservative

  9. How and When Do I Get Started? Once BCC CORI and your site CORI clears, SL Office will notify you (phone and/or email) and give you contact info for your Service-Learning Site Supervisor. You set up a meeting with your site supervisor and present your learning goals from Project Agreement Discuss project tasks Set up weekly schedule. Ask for signature on Project Agreement and FWS Work Authorization. Due by March 4th at SL Office with all signatures. No exceptions. (Note: Some sites require an interview. )

  10. For All Public School Tutor/Mentors Training Dates Presented by: Amanda Schuler, MACC AmeriCorps*VISTA & Pittsfield School Teachers Saturday, Feb. 16 10am-12:30pm Tuesday, Feb. 19 4pm-6:30pm Location: BCC Cafeteria – Room g-10 (Light meals provided) *Required for all Tutors & Mentors

  11. Every Day You Visit Service Site: 1. Fill out Log of Service Hours Supervisor signs 2. fill out Timesheetfor Service-Stipend Supervisor signs & faxes due weekly to Fin aid

  12. At the End of Your Service: Turn in Log of service hours to SL Office Student feedback -Survey Attend Service-learning Recognition luncheon! FYI: Receive Performance Review by site supervisor

  13. How To Sign Up for Your Service Site: Go to - Service-Learning Blog http://blogs.berkshirecc.edu/ servicelearning/ Select your course subject page on the right-hand side Research & choose 2 service sites – (from course list) Click on “Sign up here!” & fill out form

  16. CORI at Service Sites You may need to do a second CORI at the site you are matched with. If this is the case, the SL Office will contact you with instructions on who to see and where to go for site CORI *ALL STUDENTS WORKING IN SCHOOLS MUST DO CORI AT THE SCHOOL.
