FESTIVAL ONE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA –( NEW ORLEANS) • February 3rd – March 9th (depending on Ash Wednesday) • This festival came from the French ancestry and it include beads, masks, costumes an its celebrated in the streets of New Orleans • It has more of a carnival vibe to however still keeping to its traditional meanings.

FESTIVAL TWO TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO • Birthed in 1780’s. • Initiated by slaves imitating the dance moves and dress of slave master during galores. • Activities : Fetes, Kides Carnival, Extempo and Calypso competitions, Ole Time Mas. • Tagged “ The greatest Show on Earth” • Contributions: Promotes Foreign exchange & Tourism

FESTIVAL THREE BARBADOS • Birthed 1780’s • It was a plantation event marked by the arrival of the last cart of canes and punctuated by a day of dancing and frolic. • It marks the end of the sugar crop harvest. • Activities: Bridgetown Market,  Grand Kadooment (Mas Parades), Fetes. • Contribution: Tourism -Boasting the economy!

FESTIVAL FOUR UNITED STATES OF AMERICA - (NEW YORK) • Started in 1882. • Held annually on the first Monday in September- Federal holiday • Originally celebrated labour Association • Activity: Street Parades, Recreation, fetes, Backyard Parties. • Contribution: Brings Caribbean people together in Metapolitan countries.

  6. FESTIVAL FIVE LONDON- (NOTTING HILL) • Birth on August Bank holiday in 1966. • Activities : Steel Pan Orchestra Parade, Kid’s Day, Mas Parades, Parties, Concerts with genres such as dub , rnb , dancehall and soca. • Contribution: Make the world knowledgeable about Caribbean culture.

FESTIVAL SIX CANADA- (TORONTO) • Birth in 1967. • Occur annually- last two weeks in July into august. • Activities: Mas parades, Fetes, Concert with Caribbean artist (Machel, Fayanne, Bunji, Mr. Killer) • Fosters tourism: One million plus visitors annually. • Labelled “The Best Festival after Carnival.”

  8. FESTIVAL SEVEN JAMAICA • Started in June, 1978. • Duration : Seven days • Known as “The biggest Reggae festivals in the world.” • Boast Tourism in Jamaica by introduction of music and travel. • This festival led to annual music festivals in Jamaica.
