THE MISSION Seniors First, Inc. is a nonprofit social service organization that helps elderly Central Floridians remain independent and in their homes for as long as possible through a variety of services and programs. Low-income seniors over age 60 living in Orange and Seminole County are eligible to receive services.

  3. THE BUDGET

  4. programs Meals On Wheels is Seniors First’s most recognizable service. Seniors First is the provider for Orange County and served more than 242,000 meals to Central Florida senior citizens in 2008. In addition to Meals On Wheels, Seniors First provides other services including: Neighborhood Lunch Program w/Transportation Adult Day Center Personal Care Respite for caregivers Homemaker Home Improvement Companionship Guardianship Case Management Medical Equipment Bank Volunteers

  5. $4,680: Average annual cost per person for an individualized case managed package of services (like Seniors First) versus $46,000 to $64,000: Total cost per person for nursing home care. SENIORS FIRST

  6. The NUMBERS 481: Number of seniors waiting for Meals On Wheels or the Neighborhood Lunch Program. 242,000: Number of Meals On Wheels meals delivered in 2008. 1,200: Number of clients who received meals in 2008. Served 129,139 meals to 956 clients through the Neighborhood Lunch Program.

  7. HOME IMPROVEMENT Senior’s First provided over 10,000 hours of home improvement labor for 325 clients

  8. SENIOR TRAN The Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) funds 100% of the Senior Tran Program for Senior’s First.

  9. SENIOR TRAN sTOPS Senior Tran provides essential transportation for senior citizens to enjoy such as: Publix at the Paramount on Central Boulevard Orlando Public Library Fashion Square Walgreens Publix on South Orange Avenue The Dollar Store Bealls Target at SoDo on South Orange Avenue
