Phone in evenings. • You should be communicating with your teams weekly • I will also communicate with you weekly • Setup a meeting with your head coach • Scrimmages – how many, non D-6 focused? • Early team meals are often suggested for team building, • Locker room monitoring • Anything else the coach would like to discuss • Setup a player/parent/coach meeting

  12. Manager Website • Manager Duties • Stay Connected • Roster Card Template • SE training • First place you should look for templates

  13. Team Communications • Weekly Communications – Suggested media is email. See attached google docs template. • Practice/Game Attendance. Suggested media is SportsEngine. • The above are the suggested, but not required. • Other Platforms (Team Snap, etc.) are ok, but the Manager Director will not support/answer questions regarding non-suggested platforms • Other Platforms must be paid/managed at the team level.

  14. Volunteer Positions • Locker Room Monitor Template • All teams will be provided a suggested pre-populated template. • Locker Room monitors will be the same gender as the players. • No men in the 10U/12U locker rooms at any time. • No women in the Squirt/PeeWee/Bantam locker rooms. • See SafeSport guidelines • No phones! • Other Volunteer Positions • See suggested pre-populated template (drop down function). • Visiting team scorekeeper • Visiting team penalty box • Home team timekeeper • Home team penalty box • Music • Feel free to utilize other methods such as signupgenius, full year assignments, etc.

  16. Team Website • SportsEngine Editing • Include coach/manager contact info. • This is how outside managers contact you for scrimmages • Locker Room Monitor Schedule

  17. Sponsorships • In general, we are requesting that managers, coaches, and team families do not actively seek out/solicit sponsors outside of your teams going forward. • If you believe there are sponsorships opportunities please reach out to the sponsorship coordinator, Sam Blank. • Team families, coaches, etc. that offer to sponsor team level activities, equipment, food, apparel, etc. are appropriate. • Funds must be managed within the team, Treasurer only handles NPHA sponsorship funds. • Why

  18. Tournaments • Notify teams asap when the out of town tournament hotel block expires. • Lunch/Dinner reservations • Team room at hotel • Remember SafeSport • Contact tournament coordinators – if you were not provided info. – google • Fargo Pins • Schedules are generally provided 2 weeks in advance of tournaments – communicate with your teams. • Door Hangers – Optional – I generally inform the team if this is something the team would like, please volunteer • Gift Bags – Optional , again if the team wants, ask for a volunteer

  19. Scrimmage Management • Start scheduling scrimmages now • (5) lone ice dates to be used for scrimmages. • Discuss how many and which districts coach would prefer (generally not D6). • Email the other “B2” teams and ask them if any of our open dates works with their schedules and that you expect that they will also have us on their ice for a scrimmage as well. • Be sure to discuss the volunteers because different associations use different volunteers. • I use the Minnesota hockey website to find all the teams websites. • I then look at each associations teams site (PeeWee B2) and email the manager or coach that is identified. • Copy the first email you send, then when you send your second email to another team you simply have to paste and send.

  20. Scrimmage Management • > Email I sent to general inbox when team/manager were not yet updated • > on the websites I sent this to probably 6 - 7 different associations • > and 4 - 5 generally got back to me. Generally not D6 as the coach • > generally prefers to play scrimmages against different teams than they • > play in season. -------------------------- • > • > • > • > I am the New Prague PeeWee C - Black team's manager. Can you provide me a contact name and email/phone of your Pee Wee C's team manager/scrimmage coordinator? We currently have a few dates on our calendar that we could use to host a scrimmage in New Prague. • > Regards, • > Brian 763-229-0358 or brian_j_christensen@uhg.com Regards, Brian • > • > • > Once you get something you will want to discuss specifics - Discussing • > volunteers -------- • > • > Pete, • > • > As discussed, the Mpls PeeWee C Purple will be scrimmaging the New Prague PeeWee C Black team on Friday February 8th at 5:20 at the New Prague Area Community Center (directly across the street from the high school). I know the different districts handle volunteers differently. District 6 has the away team providing the score sheet volunteer and a penalty box volunteer while the home team provides the score board volunteer, music volunteer and a penalty box volunteer. We are very flexible on how you want to handle the volunteer positions. Just let me know so I can have the correct number of parents ready to help out on the 8th. • > • > We are also hopeful that we can find a time in February that we can visit your team on your ice as well. I have requested referees for our scrimmage and look forward to meeting you and your team on the 8th. If you have any questions please let me know. • > • > Regards, • > • > Brian

  21. District Team Policies • Tournaments • A maximum of 4 tournaments are allowed. • If team decides on a 4th, the team must fund it • Squirt C teams are limited to 3 tournaments, with only 1 out of town tournament. • No D6 team can play outside the state of MN without prior approval of the District Director. • Game Days • The maximum number of games (league/tournament/exhibition games) for Squirt and 10U is 35. • Controlled Scrimmages do not count towards the maximum 35 games.

  22. Game Format • Warm-ups - 4 minute warm-up that coincides with game start time. • Periods • All games are 3 periods with stop time. One minute rest time between periods. • In event a team is winning by 6 or more goals, the 3rd period will be run time until such time the goad differential is less than 6.

  23. Parent/Player Meeting • Schedule a parent information meeting and/or party to introduce yourself and the coaches to the parents during the first few weeks of the season. Go over the team information, tournaments, jerseys, etc. Your coach will also want to provide an overview of expectations for the season at this meeting. This is also a good time to circulate a volunteer schedule to solicit volunteers needed throughout the season.

  24. Scoresheet • Your required to turn in a score sheet to District 6 for all Games and Scrimmages (not required for controlled scrimmage or tournaments). • Teams will receive roster stickers to be placed on scoresheets. • Be sure to include: Full Team Name, Roster, Game ID, Arena, Date, Time, and Level of Play. • Be sure to include: Full Team Name, Roster, Game ID, Arena, Date, Time, and Level of Play. • Tournaments – Do not submit scoresheets • Scoresheets must be submitted within 3 days after the completion of the game. Failure to do so may result in $25 per game fine.

  25. Awards • Everyone likes Awards….. • Zero Award – Goalies for shutouts, • Hat Trick – Players who score 3 goals in a single game, • Playmaker – Player registering 3 assists in a single game. • Order from D6 website. • The awards take a few weeks to arrive, so order the awards a few weeks before the end of the season to ensure you have them for your year-end party.

  26. Wallet Cards • Informational wallet cards can be developed as a handy reference for player and parent names and numbers. A wallet card template has been uploaded on the Managers Page of the website. Input information into template, print, laminate, and distribute a couple cards to each family.

  27. Coming Soon • How to run the score board – video • How to complete the score sheet – video • Any other suggestions?
