It is all about planning and ordering your steps….. • Pour water into the kettle • Put the kettle on to boil • Get a cup from the cupboard • Add a teabag and sugar • Get the milk from the fridge • Pour the boiling water in to the cup • Add the milk and stir.
A more complex problem…. Ashcroft theatre company hold theatre productions at Brune Park Community College. They are going to hold a pantomime for Year 6 pupils from the surrounding primary schools.
What Are We Learning Today • To understand a real life problem and to break it down into manageable subtasks (smaller tasks). • To Identify the information required to solve the subtasks
What I am Looking For: • You can create a mind map detailing the problem and the subtasks to solve the problem, including information that will be required to solve the problem.
Their Problem The last show they held made a loss of £150. They need a system to help them keep a track of their finances. The theatre will be selling tickets from lots of different Primary schools and will also need to keep track of the tickets sold.
Their Requirements • the theatre needs to be able to see instantly how many tickets have been sold. • the theatre would like to offer child seats at half price but still make a profit • the theatre would like a financial plan that will calculate how much money the theatre is making.
A problem shared is a problem halved… • In Pairs discuss the requirements of the theatre • Think about what we need to do to solve the theatres problems…. • Financial • Seating
Mindmap • Open E-draw • Student Area • Software • ICT • E-draw
Lets recap Problem • Ashcroft Theatres need a way of keeping track of their finances and seating arrangements. • We have created a list of requirements to include in both.
