Oceans (Water) VocabularyNov 8, 2011 • SONAR – A system using transmitted and reflected underwater sound waves to detect and locate submerged objects or measure the distance to the floor of a body of water. • ROV Vehicles- remotely operated vehicles are robots operated by scientists aboard an ocean vessel.

  3. Oceans (Water) VocabularyNov 09, 2011 • Remote Sensing- Using technology to retrieve information from locations that hard to reach. (Usually by aircraft, spacecraft, satellite, buoy, or ship ) • Ground proofing- Sending scientists to collect info in the field.

  4. Oceans (Water) VocabularyNov 11, 2011 • Neritic Zone- Coastal area of the ocean. Which extends from the surf to the end of the continental shelf. • Pelagic Zone- The open-ocean area which is divided into habitats by depth.
