COURSE SPECIFICATIONS Course title: Business English 2 Proficiency level: Upper-intermediate (CEFR B2+) Number of ECTS credits: 5 Target group: 4th year students – graduate programme Duration: 1 semester Number of lessons weekly: 1+2 Location: Room 7 (IT room upon agreement) Time: Tuesday 1pm – 3.35pm Groups: 1 and 2 Group 1 ( Andrić-Kučera): 1pm – 2.15pm Group 2 ( Kursar-Vukušić) : 2.15pm – 3.30pm

Digital portfolio assignments: ASSIGNMET 1: Short biography and photo - Ss portrait photo • textual biography (200-300 words) – Ss should introduce themselves briefly to the teacher with emphasis on professional experience (key info from Ss academic career - internships, awards, ERASMUS exchange program, volunteering …) + CV in tabular form (free form) DUE: 10 March 2019

ASSIGNMENT 3: Team building – recording audio file Task: Record yourself giving your opinion / answers to the following questions on team building. Save the audio file in your digital portfolio. • What does it mean to be a member of a team? • What makes a good team player? • What can a team accomplish that one person working alone cannot? • What sort of team player are you? • What qualities could you contribute to a team? What qualities would make you a good team member? • What positive/negative experiences have you had as team member? DUE: 25 March 2019
ASSIGNMENT 4: Short report Task: Study the CASE STUDY in Unit 7 of Market Leader (pg.72 and 73) and do the Writing task on pg. 73. In the task Ss are supposed to write a short report to the Board of Directors recommending their preferred candidate as the new Project Manager. Important: Study the Writing File on Reports writing and follow the guidelines. REPORTS writing File can be found on the Web. However, the report can be designed according to Ss preferences (pdf, Word…..) DUE: 15 April 2019
ASSIGNMENT 5:Mini presentation and video recording Task: Study the WORKING ACROSS CULTURES in Unit 6 on pg. 60 and 61 of Market Leader. Your task is to make a presentation of a country you know well or are interested in. Use the same or similar categories as those in the presentation of Business culture in Kazakhstan to structure your talk. Prepare a short presentation (up to 10 slides including images). Record a short video of yourself giving the presentation. You are to be seen at least in the very beginning of the video. If you want, the rest of the video can focus on the slides. Your presentation should not exceed 5 minutes. In your digital portfolio, under Assignment 5 save: the presentation (PowerPoint, Canva……) and the video file with you presenting it. DUE: 12 May 2019
ASSIGNMENT 6: Ss web research and opinion Steps: Start the assignment on your portfolio page with a quote on job satisfaction / motivation. On the web find a short video on job satisfaction / motivation and insert the video to your portfolio page. Then find a research / study on job satisfaction (e.g. of millenials) and insert the text (e.g. a pdf document) into your portfolio.
Finally, give your opinion on the following questions / statements. The answer to each should contain at least three sentences. • What do you find satisfying and frustrating about your work or studies? • How true are the following statements according to you? • There is no such thing as company loyalty these days. • Only successful people can have a good work-life balance. • Job satisfaction is about personality, not external factors. • Job satisfaction increases with age. • Improvements in technology lead to greater job satisfaction. • Job sharing and job rotation are not good for motivation. • Millenials are changing jobs more than any other generation. ASSIGNMENT 7: Students’ self-reflection on learning Task: In a few sentences reflect on Business English course and the learning process, your efforts, progress and achievements during the summer semester. Address areas of your strength and weaknesses by considering pieces that went well and areas that could be improved by setting potential learning goals for yourselves. DUE: 2 June 2019
