Timeline Story Map—end result of a joint project between IGIC and NIGIC: “ArcGIS Online Free Account Awareness and Story Map Activity Pilot Project” • Result of discussion during a 2017 IGIC Finance Committee meeting • Pursued a $1,500 IndianaView Grant for promoting GIS outreach and fund IGIC Result of a Joint Project
State-wide consortium of 15 universities & institutions in Indiana • Provides mini-grant funding up to $3,000.00 • “…to promote sharing and use of public domain remotely sensed image data (aerial and satellite platforms) for education, Larry Biehl, Purdue University research and outreach across universities, colleges, K-12 educators and state and local governments.” What is an IndianaView Grant
Project Goals • Educate educators on availability and use of free ArcGIS Online Organization Account for a School • Demonstrate capabilities of ArcGIS Online and GIS • Have students create their own Story Map project • Pilot project—promote GIS at the State level through Education • Meet IGIC’s mission objective: “…to lead the effective application of geographic information in Indiana.”

Project Steps • Project length: March 31, 2017—June 2018 • Outreach to and project support from school • Partner with interested educator • Inform and educate on use of ArcGIS Online account • Decide on lesson plan and implement plan • Evaluate process and report findings • Recognize school and students • Offer IGIC Educational webinar & free kit
Project Deliverables • Summary report on project outcome • News articles • Discussing initial project • Providing recognition of student’s and educator’s work • IGIC Educational webinar • Document (kit) for replicating project statewide • Shared lesson plan from educator

Mapping Indiana’s Bicentennial: Giant County Maps and Timelines Project • Education resource for all citizens to better understand their community. • Foundation for enriching citizens’ knowledge of their home AND from which further teaching and learning can evolve.
