  3. PROJECT AREA Title

  4. PROJECT COMPONENTS Title • Component 1: Irrigation Development Develop irrigation infrastructure for 20,000 ha and ascertain future irrigation potential in 80,000 ha. Directly benefit participating households, expected to number approximately 12,600 in Megech at Seraba and Ribb. • Component 2: Agricultural and Market Development Sustainable intensification and commercialization of agriculture on the irrigation schemes • Component 3: Irrigation Management Enhance management and financial sustainability of irrigation infrastructure through PIM (WUA) and PPP • Component 4: Project Management Manage resources to timely and effectively implement the project

  8. EVALUATION QUESTIONS Title • Irrigation and Health • What is the effect of irrigation on health outcomes? • What is the effet of irrigation on the availibility of water for domestic use? • How to increase the safety of irrigation water for demoestic use?

  9. EVALUATION DESIGN Title • Phase 1 will see the construction of the main irrigation canals and some secondary and tertiary canals. • Phase 2 will see the finalization in the construction of all secondary and tertiary irrigation canals.

SAMPLING AND DATA Title • Sampling should consider the land size (small, medium, large) • Sampling should consider the irrigation experience of farmers • Sampling should consider land ownership by gender and youth • Sources of data: cadastral survey, future households survey, irrigation system feasability studies, cost financial data from each fee collector (WUAs, Cooperatives, Traders.), testing water quality, gov. Bureaus.

  14. BUDGET Title We do not Know currently but we are working on this. It may be costly as the design is ambitious but the learning opportunities warrant the expenditure.
