Padeswood has a Roller grinding or vertical mill for producing “raw meal”
Raw meal is feed into the top of the preheater tower where it meets hot gas rising from the bottom. This “hot meal” is then fed into the kiln where it reaches a temperature of 1450oC. It is then rapidly cooled and sent to storage. At this stage the material is known as clinker.
Padeswood has two ball mills for turning clinker into cement. We add gypsum and in some cases limestone to the mills. The milled cement is then transferred to storage silos before loading into bulk wagons for transport to customers
