History of NCG Green Team • The question is no longer “Should we go green?”, but rather “How green should we go?” • In January 2009, The North Central Group established The Green Team to bring together the sustainable efforts of our development and management companies into a committee format.

  3. Green Team Mission Create a sustainable environment by adding value for team members, guests and investors.

  4. Green Team • Comprised of team members throughout the organization: • Corporate Office • General Managers • Operation Managers • Chief Engineers • Sales Managers

  5. Green Champions • Each hotel has a Green Champion to help lead the hotel’s Green Efforts. • Volunteer Basis • Career Development Opportunity • Managers, Executive Housekeepers, Chief Engineers, Guest Service Representatives, Sales Team Members, Night Auditors

  6. Green ScorecardCategories • Energy Efficiencies • Pollution Prevention • Recycling • Waste Reduction • Water Conservation • Green Programming & Team Education • Green Meetings

  7. Green Scorecard • Tracks Hotel Green Activities • 160 metrics • Self Reporting • Quarterly Updates • Primary tool to monitor Green Progress • Portfolio benchmark in 2009 (inception of Green Team) - 50.4% • Portfolio average as of June 2012 - 70%

  8. Green Budget Funds • Ideas come from the portfolio, not corporate office driven • Set amount per property to invest in Green Efforts • Budget Request submission process • Promote in conjunction with Earth Month

Green Budget Funds • Sample Projects: • Installation of motion sensors for lighting • Changes to more Energy Efficient Lighting • Recycling programs: guest rooms, outdoor, public spaces • Recycle guestroom soap for 3rd world countries • Recycle newspapers at Humane Society • Ozone Laundry • Rechargeable batteries for thermostats
