AIM AND SCOPE The present conference will provide a platform to the scientists and technologists of different stature to meet, exchange, and share their views, experience, expertise and specialized knowledge in the field of Surface Science and Technology. The close interaction of the scientific community, right from research students to senior scientists and technologists will help in identifying priority research areas and framing of useful research plans. The deliberations will cover various facets of Surface Science that would mainly include the followings: Interfacial Phenomena & Adsoprtion, Membranes & Bio-mimetics, Excited state & Oscillatory processes, Colloids & Surfaces, Micelles, Emulsions & Microemulsions, Gels & Network materials, Polymers, Supramolecular Assemblies, Nanomaterials and Nanotechnology. DATES TO REMEMBER Last date of registration: Saturday, July 14, 2012 Last date of submission of abstracts: Saturday, July 14, 2012 REGISTRATION FEE :Rs. 200/- For UG &PG Students: Rs. 100/- BACKGROUND Indian Society for Surface Science and Technology (ISSST) organizes scientific seminars, workshops, conferences on surface science and related areas from time to time. Surface Science has fundamental importance as well as tremendous application potential. This year, ISSST and the Department of Chemistry, Scottish Church College, Kolkata have agreed to organize a one day seminar at S. C. College, Kolkata to generate meaningful interaction among the scientists and students to make them interested and motivated in research in the areas of surface science. The seminar is also expected to help improve the teaching of the subjects at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. With this, in view and on the basis of the fact that ISSST started organizing such seminars since 2006 under the general series title “Trends in Surface Science and Related Areas(TSSRA)”, the present seminar has been arranged as one of the series.
