January: Pets We Love

1. Theme This month we will learn about animals we can have at home, our pets. How to take care of our pets. Circle Time During circle time we will be going over our ABC’s, 123’s, Spanish numbers, colors, shapes and our 5 classroom rules, letter of the week and days of the week. Also, book regarding pets. Science We will look at different hair such as dog, cats, birds, etc. Furthermore we will look at food that they eat. Also, we are going to talk about seasons, senses and types of weather. Pretend Play We will be acting as a pet owner, dog walker, as well as, veterinarian. Furthermore we will be going outside, playroom, puppets and dolls. Math We will be classifying and sorting pets based on whether dog, cat, bird, etc. Review counting in English and Spanish. Also, puzzles and flashcard numbers will be available. Art We will pain, color, making crafts having to do with pets coloring pages, paper plate doggie, paper plate cat, paper plate bird. We will be using cotton balls, ball with different texture, marbles, straw and their hands as we paint our coloring pages. Week #1 (1/3-1/7) ---Pets (Dog) We will talk about dog What they eat? Dog food, water and TLC Playing w/ our dog is important Well check up veterinary visit. Week #2 (1/10-1/14)---Pets (Cats) We will talk about cats Cat food, water, TLC Toys for cat Week #3 (1/17-1/21)---Pets (Birds) Talk about different kinds of birds Bird food, water, TLC Cage, toys, check up Week #4 (1/24-1/28)---Pets (Fish) Talk about hamster, guinea pigs, mouse, etc Veterinary office Reminder -As the season changed please bring in a new change of clothes (long pants, long sleeve shirts, socks). -Also, snowsuit, boots, gloves/mitten, scarf and hat for when we go outside. -Please make sure you labeled (name and date) food that you bring in to the center. -Please make sure you check your child’s cubby every Friday for arts to take home.
