Module Overview • Introducing SharePoint 2010 Insights • What’s New in SharePoint 2010 Excel Services • What’s New in SharePoint 2010 PerformancePoint Services • Developing KPIs and Scorecards with SharePoint 2010 PerformancePoint Services • Developing Reports and Dashboards with SharePoint 2010 PerformancePoint Services • Managing Excel 2010 PowerPivot Solutions in SharePoint 2010
Agenda • Developing Filters • Developing Reports • Developing Dashboards • Demo: Developing Reports and Dashboards with SharePoint 2010 PerformancePoint Services • Lab: Developing Reports and Dashboards with SharePoint 2010 PerformancePoint Services
Developing Filters • Filter Element • Filter Configuration
Filter Element New • Added to dashboards so that users can modify the view • Can relate to multiple dashboards • Typically used to filter data • Also used to pass values to Scorecard and Report axes • Filter types include: • Display methods include: • List, Tree, Multi-Select Tree, Calendar Control
Filter Configuration • Custom Table • Based on Tabular data sources only • Parent-child hierarchies can also be produced • MDX Query • Based on Analysis Services data sources only • Any valid MDX can be used to produce a dynamic set • Member Selection • Can be based on any type of Data Source • Membership is based on a static selection of members • A default member can be specified • Named Set • Based on Analysis Services data sources only • Based on a named set in the cube
Filter ConfigurationContinued • Time Intelligence (TI) • Can be based only on Data Sources that have their Time properties configured • Time formulas are used to create the TI members • The following example defines a YTD member: • Time Intelligence Connection Formula • Can be based only on Data Sources that have their Time properties configured • Unlike the other filters, this filter can only present a Calendar control • The selected date is used to determine current date used by TI formulas Year.FirstMonth : Month
Agenda • Developing Filters • Developing Reports • Developing Dashboards • Demo: Developing Reports and Dashboards with SharePoint 2010 PerformancePoint Services • Lab: Developing Reports and Dashboards with SharePoint 2010 PerformancePoint Services
Developing Reports • Report Element • Report Configuration
Report Element • Presents a report • Report types include:
Report Configuration • Analytic Chart • Analytic Grid • Excel Services • KPI Details • ProClarity Analytics Server Page • Reporting Services • Strategy Map • Web Page
Analytic Chart and Analytic Grid • The Analytic Chart and Analytic Grid are related types • The Analytic Chart presents data visualized using: • Bar Chart, Stacked Bar Chart, 100% Stacked Bar Chart • Line Chart, Line Chart with Markers • Pie Chart • The Analytic Grid presents a grid of members and measures • The design choice determines the initial view • Users can change the report type • Only supported for Analysis Services data sources • Based on ProClarity New
Analytic Chart and Analytic GridConfiguring Reports • Use the Details pane to design the analytic report • Drag cube measures, hierarchies, and named sets to the drop zones • For Analytic Chart • For Analytic Grid • In Dashboards, hierarchies can receive Filter and Scorecard values
Analytic Chart and Analytic GridConfiguring Reports (Continued) • Hierarchies may be filtered by: • Explicit member selection • Dynamic expressions
Analytic Chart and Analytic GridConfiguring Reports (Continued) • Use the Edit tab to: • Format font, background color, numeric format • Specify the initial sort order • Ascending, Descending, None • Specify filter • Value and Top N • Empty rows and columns • Modify report type • Configure layout/legend • Configure report settings • Maximum characters for column and row labels • Show Information Bar • Show data source formatting New New New
Analytic Chart and Analytic GridThe User Experience • Interactive toolbar and context menus support: • Drill up/down • Drill down to (Drill across) • Sort • Filter: • Show Only/Remove • Filter values, Top N • Remove empty rows/columns • Selection of additional measures • Analysis using a decomposition tree • Modification of report type • Show Details (PPS “Drill through”) • Launching of cube cell actions New New New
Excel Services • Uses Excel Web Access to present an Excel workbook or item • Configure: • SharePoint site • Document library • Excel workbook • Item name • Parameter values • In Dashboards, Excel parameters can receive Filter and Scorecard values
KPI Details New • Presents contextual information about the selected cell of a scorecard • Configuration is an easy process of selecting required details to present • In Dashboards, the report can only receive the Scorecard cell context
Reporting Services • Renders a report from Reporting Services • Configure: • Server mode • Supports both Native and SharePoint Integrated mode • Report path • Show: • Toolbar, Parameters pane, Document Map • Zoom • Rendering format • Report parameters • In Dashboards, report parameters can receive Filter and Scorecard values • Includes a Report Preview feature PerformancePoint Services refers to Native mode as Report Center
ProClarity Analytics Server Page • Renders a report from ProClarity Analytics Server • Configure: • Server URL • Page • Configuration options: • Disable decomposition tree • Disable drill to detail • Disable decomposition tree and drill to detail • All interaction disabled • In Dashboards, pages can receive Filter and Scorecard values Decomposition trees are now natively supported in Scorecards and Analytic Reports New
Strategy Map • Depicts relationships and dependencies between objectives, goals, and KPIs by mapping shapes in a Visio diagram to KPIs • Requires that Visio is installed on the developer’s machines • In Dashboards, maps can receive Scorecard values
Web Page • Retrieves a Web page • Provides the greatest developer flexibility • The Web page can: • Perform a redirect to another resource • Produce any HTML response and include user interaction • Configuration requires only a URL • In Dashboards, pages can receive Filter and Scorecard values • Values are appended to the URL query string
Agenda • Developing Filters • Developing Reports • Developing Dashboards • Demo: Developing Reports and Dashboards with SharePoint 2010 PerformancePoint Services • Lab: Developing Reports and Dashboards with SharePoint 2010 PerformancePoint Services
Developing Dashboards • Dashboard Element • Dashboard Configuration • Dashboard Deployment • Dashboard User Experience
Dashboard Element • Collection of pages that group related interactive scorecards and reports • Is the only item that is deployed to SharePoint • Dashboards are assembled from: • Filters • Scorecards • Reports • Connections are defined between the assembled items to allow values to be sent and received
Dashboard Configuration • Dashboard pages consist of zones • Zones can be configured: • Name • Size • Orientation • Horizontal, Vertical, Stacked • Filters, Scorecards, and Reports are added to the zones • Connections and display conditions are configured between the items • Each page, when deployed, will produce a Web Part page in SharePoint
Dashboard ConfigurationConnection Fundamentals • Filters send values • Scorecards receive and send values • Reports receive values • Different items have different values to send
Dashboard ConfigurationConnection Configuration • To create a connection, configure: • From/To items • Connection endpoints • Value to pass • Values can be intercepted and transformed by a formula
Dashboard Deployment • Dashboards are deployed to SharePoint libraries using the Workspace Browser • Specify: • SharePoint library • Master Page • Whether to include links for navigation between dashboard pages • Each Dashboard creates a folder • Each Dashboard page is produced as a Web Part page within the folder • By default, the Dashboard opens in a Web browser
Dashboard User Experience • Users can: • Navigate between the pages of the Dashboard • Select filter values • Interact with each scorecard and report: • Edit the Web Part • Open in a new window • Reset to the original view • Export to PowerPoint or Excel Pages
