Naked Economics Introduction and Chapters 1 & 2
Choose one of your passages (Chapter 1) • Write the passage in the middle of your back page large enough so people can read it when you hold it up. • Surround it with pictures, symbols, simple phrases, and/or words that illustrate why you chose this passage to share/discuss, or that show a concept that you understood from that passage.
Sharing • Sit in a circle so that we can all share our passages and why we chose that particular passage. • AFTER, the presenter has shared, feel free to politely jump in discuss the passage or ask questions. • We will then open it up for a general Q & A about the reading.
Who feeds Paris? • Use the evidence from Chapter 1 to answer this question. • This will be turned in.
Bumper Stickers(Chapter 2) • Choose something that you learned, or an idea from chapter 2 that you believe should be understood, or at least considered, by the average American. • Create a message that could be displayed on a bumper sticker that shares that information. • Make these clear, easy to read and simple.
Elephant Ivory • Read the articles related to the ban on domestic ivory sales in the U.S. • Also, watch this video on the Ivory Crush that took place in November 2013. • Finally, answer this question: • Considering incentives, and what you learned in chapter 2 of Naked Economics, do you support these actions as a way to protect African elephants? Explain.
